UK Institute of Brewing and Distilling (IBD) venture Beer Academy has opened a beer school for the Asian/Pacific region, based in Sydney, Australia.

mike_Oz_w120612In partnership with Australian brewing consultant Brewtique, the Beer Academy has instituted courses aimed to “provide high-quality training that develops beer appreciation and understanding, leading to the delivery of greater insight, improved product quality and recognised best practice”.

Since its foundation in 2003, the Beer Academy has taught more than 10,000 people in the UK and it provides education and training to professional brewers and distillers worldwide.

The boom in new beer styles taking place across the northern hemisphere has not passed Australia by, and Brewtique managing director Mike Spencer said: “With the microbreweries and the major breweries producing beer styles we have not seen in this region before, there has never been more interest in beer and the thirst for knowledge is very high.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be able to bring the Beer Academy to this region. We believe the time is ripe to launch the most credible, informative and professional courses available for consumers and those working in the beer industry.”
