Adnams has scoured five continents for ingredients to produce a limited-edition beer to commemorate the Olympics.

Flame runner is sourced from each of the continents represented by the rings in the Olympic logo – and its taste reflects exotic ingredients such as ginger and grains of paradise, as the Suffolk brewer pushes out the boat to make a truly world ale for London 2012.

adnams_olympicAdnams tasting notes describe Flame Runner as: “A clean and refreshing, 3.9 per cent pale ale, with a spicy citrus and subtle ginger aroma and a good malty backbone, balanced by an orange peel bitterness”.

Master brewer Fergus Fitzgerald said: “It’s designed around the Olympics.

“We’ve tried to use ingredients from each of the five continents as depicted by the Olympic rings.

“We used some pale ale malt from Europe, some hops from Australia, a little bit of orange peel from America, a little ginger form Asia and some grains of paradise from Africa.
