The Lake District’s Jennings brewery is finally set to welcome visitors again… seven months after being devastated by Storm Desmond.
The Castle Brewery, in Cockermouth, disappeared 7ft of water when the River Derwent burst its banks in December.
Brewing was resumed within weeks, after a massive clean-up operation. But only now are the brewery shop, offices and tours back up and running, with the tours resuming next Monday
Staff at the brewery – which has been in operation since 1828 and employs 30 people – described the aftermath of the storm as “like a tsunami”.
The offices had to be gutted as a result of the damage.
But Jennings are hoping to more than resume where they left off – with more group and bespoke tours, and an expanded brewery shop with new merchandise.
