The historic Redoubt Fort in Harwich will soon be trembling to the march of real ale fans once more – when Harwich Town Brewing Company launches its seventh annual beer festival.

Sink an ale in the moat, at Harwich’s famous fortified ale festival!

A splendid 60-plus real ales and ciders will be up for sinking, in the moat of the Napoleonic fortress, together with American and Belgian fruit beers on draught.

The fest will run each day, from Thursday, July 28 to Saturday, July 30 from 11am-11pm and dogs and children are welcome.

Entrance is £3 per head with the first half pint free to anyone bringing their own non-glass drinking vessel.

The Café on the Pier will serve food at the fort throughout, and on the Friday and Saturday evenings there will be live music to accompany the ale, with traditional American folksters the East Creek Union Band  playing the Friday and singer-songwriter Polly Haynes on the Saturday.
