Ossett hops off to Sheffield for a celebration of the green stuff!

Ossett Brewery is hopping off down the road, to present a celebration of English hops … at its aptly-named Sheffield pub, The Hop!

ossett_breweryBeers produced with new-season fresh (green) English hops will feature, in a mini beer festival from Thursday to Sunday, October 18-21.

There will be a minimum of eight ales on the bar at any time and the focal point of the event will be a talk and tasting session on the Saturday, when Ossett Head Brewer Paul Spencer will be joined by hop farmers Ali and Richard Capper of Stocks Farm, Worcestershire and Paul Corbett of hop merchants Charles Faram.

Together they will discuss the English hop industry and how hops influence the flavor and aroma of beer. Samples of new season hops will be available to “rub and sniff”, together with a number of sampling ales to show how different hop varieties work in a range of beer styles.

the_hop_sheffieldThe session starts at 2pm and tasting session are priced at £5 and are available from The Hop in Sheffield or direct from Ossett Brewery. Entry to the ale fest itself is free, and it opens daily, from noon to midnight.

There will be live music on Friday and Saturday.
