A campaign to restore the world’s oldest Mersey-built steam ship is helping fund itself by launching… a new ale!
The hoppy 4 per cent bitter, Danny, set sail with a launch at the Ferry Boat pub in Runcorn recently, after restorers The Daniel Adamson Preservation Society (DAPS) teamed up with Frodsham Brewery to make the brew.
Sales of Danny will help fund the restoration of the Daniel Adamson steam tug boat – built in 1903 and now the world’s oldest Merseyside-built steamship.
In keeping, Danny is brewed to a traditional Victorian recipe and its creators hope to persuade real ale pubs along the Mersey basin and beyond to sell it.
Frodsham Brewery will donate cash from sales toward the £3.8m restoration project.
DAPS chairman Dan Cross said: “The beer is excellent, a real classic.
” Every pint will help to finance the further restoration of the vessel”.
