When it comes to winning Spitfire Ale competitions, no Fokkers come closer than pub owners Jonathan and Linda Quinn!

The owners of Ilfracombe’s oldest pub have won a year’s supply of the ale, from Britain’s oldest brewery… their SECOND Spitfire kill in two years!

The couple’s George and Dragon pub in the Devon town – which dates back to 1360 – came top in a competition organised by Shepherd Neame, itself founded back in 1698!
Jonathan and Linda got lucky with a ‘lottery ticket’ inside a Shepherd Neame Spitfire cask as part of its Glorious 2012 compo.

Each cask had a unique code on it, which publicans could text to the brewery in the hope of winning a prize draw.

Jonathan and Linda texted theirs- and the result was that the George and Dragon will now have a free nine-gallon firkin of Spitfire delivered every week for 52 weeks… which adds up to nearly a quarter of their Spitfire sales!

Just two years ago, they won £2,000 worth of holiday vouchers in another Spitfire prize draw!
