Devon’s Otter Brewery has won the Good Pub Guide’s Brewery of the Year title for 2012.
The family brewery, based near Honiton, was honoured after guide reviewers fell for its ales, made from water drawn from its own local springs.
They said: “It was over 20 years ago that we first came across a nicely-named new beer called Otter – and can still remember that first taste.
“With a well balanced range of several varieties, all brewed using water from their own spring, the Otter Brewery is now one of the West Country’s most successful breweries.”
Otter was started in 1990 by Mary Ann and David McCaig – who first met at a brewery dance, when David was working for Whitbread’s in Cheltenham!
Otter now produces five nationally-known regular ales, together with a range of bottled brews and specials.
