Cheshire family brewer Robinsons took silver at this year’s International Beer Challenge – after the new-look BOTTLE of its flagship ale Unicorn, took the judges’ eye!
Unicorn has been brewed since 1896 – but its newly-remodelled bottle scooped the silver award in the Design and Packaging category at the IBC.
The brewery’s brand manager, John Robinson, said: “This award celebrates not only the fantastic re-design, which has ensured greater stand out in supermarkets and back of bar, but it is also recognizes an ale which has been brewed since 1896; the first of the bloodline which has formed the backbone of Robinsons well-respected lineage”.
The bottle as designed by Cheshire’s QED Creative, whose spokesman, Jack Leech added: “The bottled beer category is very crowded and stand out and differentiation is very important.
“So we created a number of design routes and tried them against competitors on shelf.”
Unicorn is leading a worldwide charge by Robinsons, with John Robinson adding: “These are innovative times at Robinsons with exciting developments taking place across the entire company.
“We have seen an increase in export volumes and this has brought about a sharpened focus on our various brands.”
Among them is a concerted demand for keg Unicorn from… RUSSIA!
