And the winners are…

It’s that time of season again, when the pub and brewery awards winners come flooding in from CAMRA – and here is a clutch of success stories that have caught Hand-Pumped’s eye.
Kelso’s Cobbles Inn won praise in Parliament after taking the title of CAMRA Borders Pub of the Year!
The pub was hailed in the Scottish Parliament when Conservative MSP John Lamont lodged a motion to recognise its achievements… which also include taking awards for the Edinburgh and South-East Scotland Overall Pub of the Year. It is now shortlisted for the 2012 Scottish Pub of the Year.
Melton Mowbray’s Boat Inn – which only re-opened 14 months ago has been voted pub of the year by the local CAMRA branch.
Admiral Taverns spent £250,000 refurbishing the pub on Burton Street in the Leicestershire market town.
The Linden Tree, on Bristol Road in Gloucester, has been handed the Wadworth’s Brewery Beer Master Award in recognition of its high quality beer and good cellar practice. The pub also recently got a CAMRA Real Ale Special Commendation for its excellence as a community pub.
Tewkesbury’s Royal Hop Pole Hotel has won CAMRA’s local Pub of the Year awar – for the third time on the trot. The Church Street pub – a former 15th century coaching house – underwent a £4m upgrade when Wetherspoon bought it in 2008, and it has six to eight real ales on at any one time.
Cornwall’s Driftwood Brewery has taken CAMRA’s coveted Champion Winter Beer award for its strong, fruity ale, Alfie’s Revenge. The beer will now compete at the Great British Beer Festival in London in August for the title champion beer of Britain. The brewery is attached to the Driftwood Spars hotel.
Canterbury’s Dolphin pub has won CAMRA’s Canterbury, Herne Bay and Whitstable branch Pub of the Year title, for its quality food and drink. The St Radigund’s Street pub boasts up to five cask ales on offer at any one time.
The Union Jack pub at Roydon, near King’s Lynn, has taken West Norfolk CAMRA’s Pub of the Year title, for the standard of its ales and its atmosphere.
