Fangs but no fangs to vampire brews in Whitby

The “Dracula” town of Whitby now has a new micro-brewery… but drinkers won’t be seeing any blood-letting in its brews.
For local guitarist Norman Wells has set up the Conquest micro-brewery with the aim of deliberately avoiding trading on Bram Stoker.
His first ale – the 4.2 per cent Broadsword, “a mouthful of citrus and then a strong, bitter finish” – has just gone on sale in the town.
And Norman said: “I wanted a name that had some historical, older connotations, but I didn’t want to go down the Dracula route”.
The keen home brewer decided to go micro-commercial after a chat with a local landlord, who said he would like to put local ales in his pubs.
Norman’s Conquest brewery, on Larpool Lane in the town, is now turning out a bijou 100 litres of Broadsword per week.
