Theakston’s brewing boss Simon Theakston has been made a deputy Lieutenant of North Yorkshire.
Mr Theakston – executive director of the famous Yorkshire brewery – is one of six new deputies named by the Lord-Lieutenant of North Yorkshire, Lord Crathorne.
The appointment was sanctioned by the Queen. He was chosen for the role through his involvement in voluntary work.
Among other roles, in 2009 he became chairman of the Prince of Wales’ Pub is the Hub campaign and he is currently chairman of the Yorkshire and NE British Beer and Pub Association.
He is also involved with the Theakston’s Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival in Harrogate
