A Corfu beer has topped a Wetherspoon international taste test, and has been named as the chain’s official beer throughout the London Olympics.

corfu_090812Koroibos Ale is produced by the Corfiot Brewery, located in the Arilla district of the Greek holiday island.

The ale was named after the runner Koroibos who took part in the first ancient Olympics in 776 BC.

It has been brewed since 1970, to an old traditional recipe, and is slow-fermented over several weeks by Corfiot – which also produces a range of other ales including Ionian Epos, Real Ale Bitter, Real Ale Special, Royal Ionian Pilsner and Ionian Gold.
