500 good reasons Reading is heading for success…

A mind-boggling 500 real ales will stack the racks at this year’s huge Reading CAMRA Beer and Cider Festival, as the 18th incarnation of one of the country’s most extensive events of its kind prepares to get under way.

Reading_2012The five-day festival runs from next Wednesday (May 2) until Sunday (May 6).

Also on offer are 200 ciders and perries, with the festival hosting the National Cider and Perry Awards on the Friday and Saturday, and there will be a large selection of foreign beers and English wines too.

A LocAle bar will showcase the efforts of brewers from within 30 miles of the festival.

There will be live music on Friday and Saturday and a family day with children’s entertainment on Sunday.

Opening times and prices are: Wednesday, 6-11pm (£7); Thursday 11am-11pm (£8); Friday and Saturday 11am-11pm (£9) and Sunday noon-7pm while stocks last, (£5).

There will be £3 concessions for card carrying CAMRA, EBCU, or RURACS members.

A trade session will take place in private, on Thursday from 2-5pm.
