To beer or not to beer – that is the CAMRA question!

Trade tickets are now on sale for this year’s CAMRA Great British Beer Festival in London – billed as “Britain’s Biggest Pub”. But is it?
Certainly, the 55,000 expected customers are unlikely to be outdone by any other single establishment.
But as for the ales, this year’s fest is about to have its pocket picked – by its own organisation, in the form of Robin Hood…
For Nottingham CAMRA is organising a truly staggering 1,000-beer, 200-cider Robin Hood Beer Festival extravaganza, that will top the GBBF’s “mere” 800 ales by 25 per cent!
The best news of all is that GBBF takes place at Olympia from August 7-11, while the Nottingham Robin Hood fest doesn’t arrive until October 11-13… giving us all plenty of time to get over the headache!
GBBF has switched back to Olympia this year, after six years at Earl’s Court, and breweries will be limited to 10 trade tickets, with additional ones available on special application to CAMRA.
The pubs allowance is two tickets, with five each for other industry affiliates.
Trade day is as usual on the opening day, Tuesday, August 7. Preview day for the Robin Hood festival – being held appropriately at Nottingham Castle – will be on Wednesday evening, October 10.
Hand-Pumped will be carrying regular updates on both events as they unfold, but you can also follow them via their own links, below.
