Sick of dropping those slippery, wet, £100 hydrometers when you’re trying to get to the bottom of your latest brew’s ABV?
UK company Bellingham + Stanley has just released its new range of OPTi digital hand-held refractometers, which it says are simpler, safer and – thanks to the temperature-compensated digital readout – give more reliable results, in a shorter time.
The new OPTi refractometers are supplied in single or dual scale formats and require only a fraction of the sample needed to perform a conventional SG measurement.
The OPTi-Wort is ideal for use where only the start point specific gravity of a brew is required, while the OPTi-Brew SG – with its additional RI-Zeiss scale for use with a hydrometer and web based calculator – can determine the alcohol content of beer, wine and cider to within 0.5 per cent ABV.
